Hi Folks - I am not new to fish keeping. I have been keeping tropicals since the 1970's. I currently have an open 100 gallon (60 x 18 x 20) acrylic tank that I am going to start up with Rainbowfish and some Angels. Right now I have Discus and tetras in the tank and am moving them to new quarters to be able to use that tank for Rainbowfish and angels. I really like the blue-eyes, threadfins and most of the smaller Rainbowfish, but am concerned that my angels, as they grow, will get too territorial and nippy. Are the Rainbowfish fast enough and savvy enough to live together with angels? I plan on starting with dime to quarter size angels. But I want to get the rainbowfish first and let them acclimate to their new home for a few weeks before introducing angels. Any advice based on experience would be greatly appreciated. We can talk species later, but for right now, let's talk compatibility and tank decor. I love driftwood and rock and plan on a bare-bottom tank with lots of cleanup crew guys (corys, plecos, loaches, etc.). This should leave plenty of mid and upper tank swimming area. Do the smaller rainbowfish appreciate hiding? I could always add some plants and caves if they do, but bare bottom is the plan. How about some advice to someone new with rainbowfish... Thanks, Popeye
