More new rainbowfishes have been named:
Melanotaenia bowmani - Bowman's Rainbowfish Melanotaenia dumasi - Omba Rainbowfish Melanotaenia etnaensis - Etna Bay Rainbowfish Melanotaenia grunwaldi - Grunwald's Rainbowfish Melanotaenia lacunosa - Mbuta Rainbowfish Melanotaenia mamahensis - Mamah Rainbowfish
Melanotaenia dumasi is an old name that has just been resurrected.
Allen G.R., P.J. Unmack and R.K. Hadiaty (2016) The Goldiei group of rainbowfishes (Melanotaeniidae) from the Birds Neck Region of New Guinea (Papua and West Papua Provinces, Indonesia) with descriptions of five new species and recognition of Melanotaenia dumasi Weber. aqua, International Journal of Ichthyology 22(1): 1-32.
I think maybe 3 or 4 of these are already available in the hobby?
Melanotaenia bowmani = M. goldiei "Siriwo River" Melanotaenia grunwaldi = M. goldiei "Topo River" Melanotaenia etnaensis = M. goldiei "Ambalanga" Melanotaenia mamahensis = ?

Thank you! A little fishy told me there would be new Rainbowfish named. I had no idea there were so many coming :-) Thanks to all the hard work you all are doing! I also think there are some papers that need to be written? Or are they coming up soon as well?

As Adrian pointed out there was a new paper just out describing several new rainbowfishes, including two names honouring very famous ANGFA and IRG members, Ron Bowman and the late Norbert Grunwald. Both did tremendous work establishing rainbowfishes beyond Australian shores. Growing up in Melbourne I have very fond memories of visiting Ron's fishroom many times in the late 1980s and early 90s, it was always a real treat to see some many different rainbowfishes all in one place, usually all looking very spiffy in his sunlit room. Plus you never knew what mops or other little gems you might be able to take home with you. Ron was very generous. I never met Norbert, but I suspect it would be a similar story to mine about Ron. Great that they both now have lovely rainbowfishes named after them and they are both available in the hobby (although sadly not in Australia). You can read the abstract here, www.aqua-aquapress.com/volume-22-issue-1-15-january-2016/
