Should add a couple things.i got away from hatching in plastic containers with these.Best to avoid any bio-film build-up unless your sterilizing the container everyday. Also possible to collect fry from main tank but, it has to be setup a specific way.Have patience with the fry popping up.May take a long time if you're picking eggs. .Especially with their sac still full.eventually they will make it up when they are light enough.

I went back to my original setup with the kangaroo creek mellis and closely replicated the snapper creek tank with floating riccia also.Started both location types about the same time. Most of the snapper creek eggs hatched out and are up and swimming.Around 30 fry so far.Only a few i was able to collect from the parent tank in the following 2 weeks.I can see eggs in the riccia close to the surface well developed.Unlike the KC mellis. They hatch and fall.In comparison,Without picking any eggs.I was only able to collect a few from the surface of the snapper creek tank. 30-40 fry so far from the surface of the KC mellis tank.Either way it is a good start to mellis breeding time for me here. 1st pic snapper creek tank. eggs in riccia close to surface Surface of KC mellis breeding tank.Fry collected around riccia edges Video of KC mellis fry
