This fish has intrigued me since the first time I saw a video of them. It took me a few years to secure eggs but in 2016 Gary Lange made my dream come true and gifted me a vial of them. They absolutely lived up to my expectations.
This is a very unique species in the fact that it is a brackish or marine species. If kept in freshwater it looses colour and stops breeding. In contrast it thrives in full saltwater. Unlike a marine fish, it is capable of handling huge fluctuations in water parameters though. This kind of makes them an absolute ideal beginners fish for the world of saltwater aquarium keeping. And that is where I went with them.
